​It is thought that the domestic dog is descended from the grey wolf. Most notably, it has an upward-pointing tail among its numerous distinguishing features. The dog is descended from a long-extinct species of wolf. Gray wolves, the closest surviving relatives of today's dogs, are the current day grey wolves.

The main dog breeds may be broken down into seven categories: Working, Herd, Toy, Hound, Sporting, Non-Sporting, and Terrier (a mix of the first two). Breeds in the Working and Hound categories do practical work, while those in the latter category hunt.
Pet or companion dogs aren't the same as working dogs, which are bred to fulfill certain duties. Working dogs may be defined in a variety of ways; they are sometimes referred to as any dog that has been specifically trained for and employed in their field.

A herding dog, also known as a working dog or a stock dog, is a breed of pastoral dog that has been bred for herding or has been taught in herding by its breeders. To the best of everyone's knowledge, they are capable of being taught to obey a whistle or a spoken order.

Traditional definitions of the term "toy dog" relate to a very tiny dog or to a collection of small and very small breeds of dog. A toy dog may be any of the many different breeds of dogs. Toy dogs are little breeds of dogs such as spaniels, pinschers, and terriers that have been bred to be smaller than their original size. Not all toy dogs are intended to be lapdogs. The AKC classifies dogs in the Hound Group as belonging to a wide range of breeds. Hounds originate from all over the globe and include some of the most recognizable varieties, including one of the world's biggest canine breeds as well as some of the world's tiniest. One thing, though, unites them all: a passion for the outdoors. Hounds have great noses and endurance since they were bred to be tracking and hunting dogs by almost every civilization that has reared them. This varied group of canines is known for a variety of things, including scent tracking, hunting, and developing strong connections with their human partners.

Conclusion:
Pets provide many health advantages. Owners of dogs are less likely than non-owners to experience depression. In stressful circumstances, pet owners' blood pressure is lower than non-pet owners'. People with borderline hypertension who adopted shelter dogs had a substantial drop in their blood pressure after five months, according to one research. The feel-good neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine are increased when you are interacting with a dog, cat, or other kind of pet.
Compared to non-pet owners, pet owners had reduced triglyceride and cholesterol levels (signs of heart disease). Patients with heart attacks who have pets have a better prognosis.
